Yet another grad-student, displacement-activity project was B.U.N.K., a publication about "Beetles and their universe". John Acorn (currently of "Acorn, the Nature Nut" and "Twits and Pishers" fame) and Bob Anderson (who now studies weevils in Ottawa) and I put together two issues. They have recently gone onto the Web, as Electro-B.U.N.K.
Faculty members sometimes have displacement activities too, especially when sipping daquiris with colleagues while waiting for a table at a restaurant (an incident which resulted in the formation of the Group Of Davids Doing Systematics (G.O.D.D.S.).
My daughter Julia and I once staged a play in the bathroom of a restaurant in Corvallis.
